China market hammered as global tensions weigh
(15:41, 11 Aug 2026)
Chinese stocks fell on Tuesday due to weakened investor confidence amid diminishing hopes for a quick easing of US-Iran tensions. The Shanghai Composite decreased by 0.82% to 3,934.1, while the Shenzhen Component fell by 0.40% to 14,259.4.

Concerns grew after President Trump called for compensation from Iran, and Tehran sought reparations for US and Israeli strikes, raising worries about disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz. The People's Bank of China kept on hold its seven-day reverse repos, marking its first halt in liquidity injections since June. AI-related stocks saw significant losses, with NAURA Technology down 1.83% and others following suit.
